David Crawford, Missouri Students Association director of student activities, said his department is working hard to provide quality entertainment for students.

The department sponsored the second annual Battle of the Bands on Saturday.

"We spent about two months putting it all together," he said.

There will be a short break in events until after spring break, Crawford said.

On April 4, DSA will sponsor a cultural fashion show to showcase different international styles, he said.

The department also will sponsor comedian David Cross' show April 16 at the Missouri Theatre, 203 S. Ninth St.

The largest project DSA is working on is the Big Free Music Festival, which will be held on Stop Day. In the past, musical acts Run-DMC, the Sugarhill Gang and the Flaming Lips have performed at the festival. MSA stopped sponsoring the event in 2000 because of a lack of funding. In October, MSA Senate allocated $45,000 to fund the festival.

"It's a humongous task we're getting control of," Crawford said. "We're working on confirming acts for the show. It's definitely going to happen."
