The Missouri Students Association presidential and vice presidential slate Corey Gibson and Chelsea Johnson was fined for having a sign posted above a chalkboard in Room 306 of the General Classroom Building. According to the brief written on the case by the MSA Student Court, slates must seek permission from the Board of Elections Commissioners before posting on non-bulletin board areas.

"There's not really much to say about it," Gibson said.

He said his campaign does not intentionally place campaign materials in prohibited areas, and that this was a mistake.

"We don't see how we missed it," he said.

Johnson said that the slate had been placing signs above chalkboards, but when they realized this was prohibited, they removed the signs. BEC Chairwoman Michelle Compton said the quantity of signs does not matter.

"It doesn't matter if it's one sign or several signs, we have to act appropriately," she said.
