An MU student was in fair condition Monday after colliding with a car while he was riding his bike Friday at the corner of Providence and Stewart roads.

Senior Matthew Finuf was making a left turn onto Providence Road off Stewart Road in his black Honda when he and freshman Grant Hahn, who was riding a bicycle, collided.

Hahn was pedaling east on Stewart when he and the compact car came into contact.

Columbia police officer Craig Perkins said it is not yet clear who is at fault for the accident.

"It's not my job to decide whose fault it was," he said. "That's the insurance company's."

According to a Columbia police news release, Hahn was transported to a hospital for treatment of his wounds. His injuries were minor, and he is in fair condition. The release stated that Hahn was not wearing a helmet.

The release stated that Finuf was not physically harmed in the collision.

Neither Finuf nor Hahn was available for comment.

Another student was injured in an accident involving a cyclist and a vehicle last week when junior Aurora Chamberlain ran a stop sign on her bicycle and was hit by a car.
