Campus Facilities to alter hours over break
Some dining halls will be open for shortened hours.
Dec. 8, 2006
Although Dec. 15 will mark the closure of most of campus for the better part of a month, some activity will continue.
The Student Recreation Complex is one of the few facilities that will remain open during break.
Recreation Services and Facilities Director Diane Dahlmann said there are approximately 1,800 non-student members that will be in Columbia over break, including staff and alumni.
The Student Recreation Complex is only closed for six days annually for deep cleaning and maintenance.
Staff will be washing pool decks and tile hallways, resurfacing wood performance floors and changing underwater lights over break.
Although business is not as busy over break, there are still an estimated 300 to 700 people that use the facility daily.
There were 688 members that used it on the snow day, Dahlmann said.
According to the Residential Life Calendar, all residence halls except South Hall, Laws Hall and the four halls that make up the Pershing Area — Cramer, Defoe, Graham and Stafford — will close at 8 p.m., and resident identification cards will no longer work.
These six residence halls will stay open during all of the breaks throughout the school year for students living in them.
All front desks also close that night except in Schurz Hall, which stays open until Saturday.
Student staff must stay for room checks and to help close the halls. With the approval of the hall coordinator, they are released at noon on Dec. 16 and must be out by 2 p.m. Dec. 17.
Campus Dining Services will also end its full-time hours on Dec. 15.
Rollins and Mark Twain Market will close after lunch. Pavilion at Dobbs, Time Out, Eva J's, Plaza 900, Emporium and Red Hall Beverage Co. close at 6 p.m. and Mizzou Market Southwest closes at 7 p.m., said Susan Dayton, computing and recruiting resources manager.
Brady Food Court closes at 5 p.m. through the weekend and opens for holiday hours from Dec. 18 through the end of winter break.
The dining halls will offer continuous service during finals week.
Jan. 11 and 12, Eva J's will open beginning at breakfast for pre-semester meal service.
Plaza 900 opens for brunch at 10:30 a.m. and dinner service starting Jan 13.
Plaza 900 will open for meal service Jan. 14.
Pavilion at Dobbs and Rollins open and Plaza 900 opens for lunch and dinner service on Jan. 15. Eva J's and Mark Twain Market open for dinner service the same day, while Emporium opens at 4 p.m. and Time Out, Eva J's 2GO, Rollins Pizza to Go! and Huckleberry Express open fulltime.
All normal hours will resume on Jan. 16, and students will be able to use their meal plans.
All Mizzou Markets, with the exception of Southwest and T.A. Brady's, will be open Monday through Friday except Dec. 24 and 25 and Jan. 1.
