During the weekend of Dec. 15-17, the University of Missouri schools and colleges will hold commencement exercises for graduating seniors.
Approximately 450 students are on the graduation list for the College of Arts and Science, the largest of the 12 schools and divisions that make up MU.
There was no total available at press time.
Commencement activities begin Dec. 15 with commencement exercises for the School of Nursing.
The final commencement will be held Dec. 17 for the ROTC Commissioning of Officers.
Students selected by their school or college to graduate with honors can choose to participate in the Honors Ceremony.
Honors graduates receive a bronze medallion and an invitation to the ceremony from Chancellor Brady Deaton.
This year's Honors Ceremony will be held Dec. 16 in Jesse Hall.
The Missouri Commencement Web site details information on all activities and answers to frequently asked questions for parents and visitors to the Columbia area.
"We get a lot of calls in the beginning of the semester, and those are people who are very anxious and ahead of the ball in that respect," said Scott Radloff, a member of the Tour Team in the office of visitor relations. "Recently, we've gotten more last-minute questions in regard to details."
The Office of Visitor Relations also recommends a walking tour of campus and for visitors, as well as downtown Columbia and local restaurants and shops.
Students graduating during the summer sessions can also choose to participate in either May or December commencement activities.
Terrence Grus, director of Graduate Admissions and Records, said commencement activities for students graduating from masters, doctorate or educational specialist programs will likely have 260 participants.
Approximately 400 students will graduate from the graduate school.
"At the grad school ceremony, one of the unique things is the hooding ceremony," Grus said. "The doctoral adviser hoods the doctoral candidate, so it's a little bit more than just walking across the stage and saying the name."
