Students who think they can cut the mustard as an Oscar Mayer "hotdogger" should look out for the Wienermobile on campus Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

A hotdogger is an all-encompassing term, Hotdogger Shaun "Sauerkraut" Hanna said.

Job responsibilities include driving the Wienermobile and also acting as an ambassador for the company.

"Historically, we've recruited at Mizzou because we've had such good luck with hotdoggers from there in the past," Hanna said.

There will be an informational session from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Fisher Auditorium for interested students to learn the requirements for Oscar Mayer Wienermobile drivers.

Students will be able to submit resumes and might be contacted later during the week for an interview.

Oscar Mayer receives roughly 1,000 applications per year to be a Wienermobile driver but usually only about 12 applicants are accepted, Hanna said.

The Wienermobile is close to 70 years old and has become part of an American tradition, Hanna said. The giant hot dog vehicle often makes appearances in parades and events throughout the nation.

"The Wienermobile is a promotional tool and an American icon," Hanna said. "It keeps alive a piece of tradition. It is always exciting when older people come up and say they remember when they were kids and got a Wienerwhistle from the mobile."
