Home break-in leads to injury

A home in a neighborhood commonly inhabited by MU students was robbed by three men Tuesday night, according to a Columbia Police news release. Two people were injured during the encounter.

Columbia Police Sgt. Barbara Buck said the crime occurred near the Forest View Apartments on South Providence Road. She would not comment on whether the victims were MU students.

According to the release, the suspects entered the home through an unlocked door and wielded a shotgun and two handguns.

The release stated that two of the three people present in the house when the suspects entered sustained minor head injuries, but neither needed medical attention. The release stated that one victim was struck in the head with a gun and the other was kicked in the head.

According to the release, the suspects left the scene in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money, a cell phone and an iPod.

Columbia Police Sgt. Dan Beckman said one of the three victims placed a 911 call 20 minutes after the suspects entered the home.
