MU Intercollegiate Athletics is asking for at least 250 students to volunteer in assisting with a fire drill at Mizzou Arena tonight at 6:15.

The first 250 volunteers will be given a free ticket to the Saturday football game against Ohio, said Roger Crumpton, assistant director of Athletics-Arena Operations.

During the event, students will stand in Mizzou Arena and, when the fire alarm is pulled, Intercollegiate Athletics staff will practice a safety drill.

"In case of a real fire, it's a lot more effective to be trained and walk through with actual students," Crumpton said.

Intercollegiate Athletics staff members have held a fire drill every year, but this is the first year they have asked for student volunteers.

Mizzou Arena has five levels and more than 10 different exits in the building.

Tad Dunn, assistant director of Athletics-Game Operations, is planning another fire drill at a later date for Memorial Stadium.

Dunn was unavailable for comment on Monday.
