Alumni Association revamps directory
Jan. 23, 2007
MU graduates will get to try a new way to keep in touch with their classmates by the end of this year.
Membership and Marketing Director David Roloff said the MU Alumni Association will release a fresh edition of the Association Member Directory between November 2007 and January 2008.
The member contact information will be cross-referenced alphabetically, chronologically and geographically. Additionally, members can be listed in a special "Career Networking" section to make the most of their MU ties and extend the university's community to Alumni Association members worldwide.
Snapshots of campus landmarks and brief vignettes about MU's history will separate the directory sections.
Information on university leaders and pictures of progressing campus construction projects will also be featured.
For greater convenience, a searchable CD-ROM version of the text will be available for purchase.
"With over 37,000 association members listed in the upcoming edition, the CD makes it much easier for members to find what they're looking for rather than having to page through the book itself," Roloff said.
As people increasingly use technology to make their lives easier, Roloff said he expects the CD to be a popular choice for association members.
Although the CD has been offered in recent years, this year Roloff said he would be interested to see if the CD outsells the book.
MU Alumni Association members will be able to purchase the book or CD-ROM editions of the directory separately for $69.95 or in a bundle for $89.95.
Alumni who are not members of the association can purchase either the bundle or the individual directories for an additional $30, which includes a one-year membership to the association along with the book or the CD-ROM.
Although the release of the directory is almost a year away, Roloff said production is now in full swing.
"A vendor working with the Alumni Association will be contacting alumni to see if they would like to be included," Roloff said.
