Campus employee assaulted by co-worker

MU police arrested an employee of the Plaza 900 dining hall Jan. 22 on suspicion of assault.
Two days earlier, a male employee said she had threatened him with a box cutter, Capt. Brian Weimer said.
Weimer said the assault escalated after an exchange of words between Glenda Leu and another male employee.
Leu grabbed the other employee by the shirt with her left hand and displayed a yellow box cutter with a visible blade in her right hand, Weimer said.
According to police records, the incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the kitchen of Plaza 900.
Neither of the employees involved are enrolled as students at MU.
Leu was arrested on charges of third-degree assault and the unlawful use of a weapon.
Weimer said the victim was not injured in the incident.
Campus Dining Services declined to comment on whether there would be further consequences for either employee.
"That is still considered a personnel issue, and we are unable to make any comment on that," CDS spokesman Andrew Lough said.
Weimer said the arrest was delayed because Leu was not present when officers arrived at Plaza 900.
"One of the employees had already been sent home by the time officers arrived on the scene," Weimer said. "That is why there was not an arrest made sooner."
Leu was taken to the Boone County Jail and posted $5,000 bond the same day as her arrest.
