Brown University alumna starts

bra-making business

It was during her time at Brown University that Christi Andersen began to feel that she needed more comfort and support. Her feelings didn't stem from the quality of the food in the dining halls or the sophomore advising system, but from the lack of well-made bras that could support her 34DDD frame.

But her bra-shopping troubles paid off — Andersen, along with business partner Derek Ohly, launched a new company, Zyrra, earlier this year with the goal to fit women with custom-made bras that look attractive while providing support.

Andersen said she first thought of this concept during her sophomore year at Brown.

"It was getting really depressing to be 19 (years old) and looking at granny bras," she said.

University of Florida grad student finds team losses can emotionally damage fans

As the Florida Gators struggled against the Louisiana State Tigers on Saturday, one Gators fan described the last few moments of the game as a mixture of her heart sinking and being punched in the stomach.

Wins and losses can have emotional and psychological consequences for the diehard Gators fans, Melanie Mousseau said. Mousseau is doing her doctoral dissertation on the psychology of sports fans.

The team is no longer a separate identity, but rather a part of the fan's identity, she said.

There are two types of sports fans, Mousseau said: Those who are "highly identified" and those who are less committed.

UF junior Marcela Campo said she agrees that although she was extremely "upset" and "shocked" about the results of the past two games, life goes on.

Sex tapes, sordid details of Ivy

League life all aired online

One unidentified male student was written about for taping a video of himself having sex.

In another university, a female keeps a public diary of her sexual escapades.

As more and more blogs about or within the eight Ivy League schools sprout up on the Internet, higher education experts say these stories can have an effect on a school's reputation.

One Ivy League blog, SexAndTheIvy.com, is written by Harvard junior Lena Chen. She uses it to chronicle her sexual encounters, mental-health issues and drug use.

"For students who want to go to an Ivy League school, it's extremely important for them to know that it's not going to be all peachy because you got into Harvard," Chen said.

And when it comes to school officials trying to control their images, as far as blogs are concerned, they can't do much.

"We try our best to make sure the blogs have accurate information about Penn but frankly, there is not very much we can do to influence their stories," University of Pennsylvania spokeswoman Lori Doyle said.
