Suspect in early morning robbery at large

A strong-armed robbery occurred around 2:45 a.m. today in the Health Science Center on the MU campus.

According to a news release from the MU Police Department, the suspect is male, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, is in his late 20s to early 30s and has short blonde hair and blue eyes. He is still at large.

The man is suspected of strong-arming a female victim and stealing an undisclosed amount of money from her. Although no weapons were used in the robbery, the victim sustained some injuries, MU police Capt. Brian Weimer said.

The severity of the victim's injuries has not yet been released.

Photos taken of the suspect show that he wore a black baseball cap, a red and black checkered flannel shirt, a white T-shirt, blue jeans and either white tennis shoes or light brown boots.

The release stated that MU police would like anyone with information about the suspect to contact MU Police Detective Vernon Gerling at 578-884-2605 or Crime Stoppers at 573-875-8477.
