Slates set for MSA election

There will only be two candidates vying to be the next student body
president.
Monday was the last day to file the paperwork to run in the Missouri Students Association election.
"I was prepared for a lot of people to run," Board of Elections Commission chairwoman Amanda Morlock said.
"But the two slates are very qualified. I'd rather have two really good slates than 10 sketchy ones."
Morlock said the BEC is trying to plan for problems before they happen in an attempt to avoid any incidents, including those similar to the controversy surrounding last year's election when Sameera Ali and Kelley Robinson were eliminated.
"We are working through possible scenarios during the BEC meetings," Morlock said. "That way we've established our stance on issues before they come up."
Campaigning officially started Sept. 29, and neither slate has been fined yet, Morlock said.
"Both slates are doing really well," Morlock said. "It makes me really
excited."
