Brian Laoruangroch, former Missouri Students Association president, was arrested on Oct. 26 on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Laoruangroch was the first and only MSA president to be impeached, based on his behavior at the 2004 Geyer Award dinner, which is sponsored by the Associated Students for the University of Missouri.
The impeachment resolution, according to a previous article in The Maneater, stated that Laoruangroch "engaged in inappropriate activities at the official functions of the university and association, which were disrespectful, unfortunate, shameful and
reckless."
His impeachment proceedings stemmed from drinking at a university function, according to a previous article in The Maneater.
The resolution also stated that Laoruangroch had not effectively represented the undergraduate student
body.
Laoruangroch was not removed from office during the impeachment proceedings, but he signed an agreement that stated he would not consume alcohol at university
functions.
In December 2004, less than a year after his impeachment, Laoruangroch was arrested on suspicion of possessing false identification and tampering with physical evidence. He was 20 at the time of the arrest.
In August 2003, according to Missouri court documents, Laoruangroch was arrested on suspicion of false identification and possession of alcohol by a minor.
In January 2004, he appeared in court on charges of driving the wrong way on a one-way street and violating the restrictions of an intermediate driver's license, according to Missouri court
documents.
In 2007, Laoruangroch started his own business that sells replacement cellular phones. The business, called Green Mobile, was a venture that Laoruangroch started with five other MU students. The business has a kiosk at the Columbia Mall.
Laoruangroch could not be reached for comment regarding the current charges.
