An MU freshman was struck by a pickup truck as she crossed Providence Road in the early morning of Nov. 1.
At approximately 1:21 a.m., Columbia police Sgt. Barbara Buck said freshman Lynn Underwood was struck by a 2000 Chevrolet.
The vehicle, driven by Columbia resident Brandon Wulff, was traveling north on Providence Road approaching Burnam Avenue, Buck said.
"It happened so quickly that the vehicle could not stop to avoid hitting her," Buck said.
Underwood was transported to University Hospital by ambulance with injuries to her head and her facial area, Buck said. At time of press, Underwood was listed in fair condition at University Hospital.
Neither Wulff nor the passenger in the vehicle, Leah Kennett, were injured in the accident. The vehicle had damage to the windshield and the hood area.
Buck said she does not anticipate that any charges will be filed in this accident.
