With K-State done, Tigers turn to Kansas

If the Tigers beat Kansas, they will be on track to play in the national championship game.

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Now that his team had finally vanquished the Kansas State Wildcats, all junior quarterback Chase Daniel wanted to talk about was next week's game against the No. 2 and 11-0 Kansas Jayhawks at a sold-out Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.

"Can we talk about Kansas now?" Daniel replied to a question about K-State. "I can't wait. KU, KU, KU. We can finally worry about it."

If the Kansas game hadn't been on the Tigers' minds before Saturday, it sure wasn't evident, judging from the excitement emanating from coach Gary Pinkel and his players following their 49-32 win over the Wildcats.

Once the final buzzer had sounded, every Missouri player rushed toward the small but vocal section of Tiger fans in Bill Snyder Memorial Stadium. The fans started and the players joined in a "beat KU!" chant that went on for minutes. By the end, even the remaining K-State fans had joined in.

On the sidelines in disbelief, senior wide receiver Greg Bracey seemed as giddy as a child.
