Shots fired at Stadium and Business Loop 70

Columbia Police Department Sgt. Ken Hammond said an investigation into shots fired at the intersection of Stadium Boulevard and Business Loop 70 "would take a backseat to the investigation of the murder at Comfort Inn," but it was still being investigated by the Columbia Police Department.

According to a news release from the Columbia Police Department, the department received a report of shots fired at 10:06 p.m. on Nov. 24.

The report stated that the police found "a significant amount of shattered glass on the roadway" as well as other evidence that validated the claims.

Hammond said the other evidence was a shell casing found on the roadway. The casing appeared to be from a nine-millimeter firearm, Hammond said.

The release also stated that there were two vehicles seen at the intersection at the time of the shooting. One of these vehicles was a "gray boxy style four-door passenger car" and the other was a "small passenger car," according to the news release.

Hammond said when police arrived, there were no cars present at the intersection. The description of the cars, as well as the race of one of the vehicle's drivers, was provided by the individual who reported the shots.
