Look out — the future is officially on its way.
Columbia's Visioning Committee will meet today to ratify the "Imagine Columbia's Future" visioning report from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Walton Building at 300 S. Providence.
The report was submitted by ACP Visioning and Planning, the consulting company that oversaw the visioning process, on Nov. 14, about two months after the final step in the information-gathering part of the process.
The purpose of the report is to present the information gathered throughout the first step of the process, which took about one year.
This included the appointment of the Vision Sponsor's Council and Visioning Committee, two Big Idea Gathering Meetings, meetings of the 13 Citizen Topic Groups and the Community Choices Open House.
The report explained the process, the compiled findings of each Citizen Topic Group, how they were voted on at the Community Choices Open House and recommendations on how to implement the plans.
According to a city news release, after the report is ratified, it will be returned to ACP for final revisions and formatting.
Then, the final report will be returned in December to be reviewed by the Sponsor's Council.
