During a meeting held today, the Missouri Students Association Student Court decided to make the presidential election appeals hearings open to the public.

The court will hear one case at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Waters Auditorium and the other two at 6:45 p.m. Thursday in Middlebush Hall room 12.

The hearings are appeals to three Board of Elections Commissioners decisions on complaints filed during the election.

Instead of announcing the results of the election on Nov. 14, Student Court decided to withhold the results due to pending litigation could affect the outcome of the election, Assistant Chief Justice Lucinda Housley said.

According to a resolution passed last year, the results of the election have to be certified and given to the Senate speaker 10 academic days after the first full election day, which would be Friday.

After attending a meeting with Student Court Chief Justice Drew Weber and BEC Chairwoman Amanda Morlock, MSA Senate Speaker Jonathan Mays said the Friday deadline was feasible.
