Police look for suspect of parole violation
Dec. 7, 2007
According to a Columbia Police Department news release on Wednesday, police are asking for help locating a man who violated his parole.
Capt. Brad Nelson said the man, Koda Coats, has been linked to recent shootings in Columbia.
Coats was put on parole after charges for unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree drug trafficking.
The release also stated that "Coats is a 'person of interest' in a shooting-related incident in November" and is still believed to be in Boone County.
Coats has been in court about 10 times from 2003 to 2007, according to the Missouri court Web site.
In 2003, Coats pled guilty to unlawful use of a weapon and drug trafficking. In 2005, he pled guilty to third-degree domestic assault, trespassing and two other third-degree assault charges. This year, he was charged with second-degree drug trafficking and harassment.
"We think he is still in the area," Nelson said.
Police ask that anyone with information about Coats call Crime Stoppers at (573) 875-8477. Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
