Police believe the damage was caused by a BB gun.
Police are investigating damage to the windows of six vehicles on campus.
The vehicles suffered damage to their windshields and side windows.
MU police Capt. Brian Weimer said the damaged vehicles are believed to have been shot with a BB gun.
An MU police officer responded to a report of damage to one car, Weimer said. The driver's side window had been shot out.
The vehicles were shot at approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday near the corner of Hitt Street and University Avenue.
The officer walked north down University Avenue and discovered four other damaged vehicles, Weimer said.
Another vehicle was damaged near the corner of University Avenue and Ninth Street.
Jacob Griesenauer said his 2001 Honda Accord was damaged between 7 and 11 p.m. Sunday night when it was parked on Bouchelle Avenue outside the Sigma Nu fraternity house.
"One of my friends saw it in the street with the windshield busted out, so he came out and got me," he said. "The window was just shattered in."
Griesenauer said he called the Columbia Police Department and filed a report. He said because of the nature of damage, he couldn't tell how the it was inflicted.
The combined damage estimate for the six vandalized vehicles reported to MU police combined is estimated to be between $900 and $1,000. Griesenauer said the damage to his car cost about $150 to repair, and the repairs took about three hours.
In addition, a window was broken at Engineering Building West Saturday between 2 a.m. and 5:05 a.m. Police found a rock two inches in diameter inside.
Police believe the rock was used to break the window, Weimer said. There is no evidence the vandalism incidents are related.
Last week, a showroom window at Albert Buick Honda GMC, a window at American General Financial Services and a car parked outside the financial business were shot with a BB or pellet gun, a Columbia Police news release stated.
