The victim of a potential sex offense in the Virginia Avenue parking garage has not filed a police report for the incident, said MU police Capt. Brian Weimer.
The MU Police Department alerted students and staff members to a sex offense report March 13 in a Clery release.
The sex offense was reported at approximately 3:50 a.m. March 10 by a third party. According to the report, the incident took place at approximately 1 a.m. in the garage. The release stated that MU police began attempting to contact the victim of the offense immediately after the report was filed.
According to the release, the victim did not know the suspect.
The Clery release was sent to students to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, which requires that universities disclose reported criminal incidents that occur on campus.
MU police also publish an annual Campus Safety and Crime Report. The last report was issued in September.
