Rosenfeld cancels lecture

Students expecting to see a legendary journalist speak were disappointed Thursday night.
Harry Rosenfeld, the former city editor of The Washington Post, who oversaw coverage of the Watergate scandal in 1972, did not speak at the MU School of Journalism Thursday for personal reasons, said Stuart Loory, Lee Hills chairman of free-press studies.
Rosenfeld's lecture in Fisher Auditorium was canceled at the last minute because his wife had to undergo medical treatment.
Due to the serious nature of Rosenfeld's wife's illness, Loory said the lecture might be rescheduled but not before next fall.
A news release from the journalism school stated that Rosenfeld supported reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein and fought to keep the two on the story when more experienced writers tried to take it.
