Incoming women's basketball player wins honor
Incoming freshman women's basketball player Bekah Mills was named Wichita's Female High School Athlete of the Year last week. Mills was selected by sports writers and broadcasters out of 48 entrants from south-central Kansas. Last season she averaged 21.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
Askren to serve as volunteer assistant in 2007-2008
Wrestling coach Brian Smith announced former wrestler and MU graduate student Ben Askren will be Missouri's volunteer assistant for the upcoming season. He also announced Lee Pritts and Shawn Charles were hired as assistant coaches to fill the departures of Bart Horton and Pat McNamara.
Charles spent four years as the top assistant at Nebraska, and Pritts returns to MU, where he was an assistant from 1988-2004. Since then, he's been coaching at Old Dominion in Norfolk.
