Police are no longer investigating the discovery of an unconscious man found in a ditch on the MU campus, according to MU Police Department Capt. Scott Richardson.
Richardson said on Sept. 11, MUPD responded to an 8:05 a.m. phone call from a member of the athletic department regarding an unconscious man. The man was found alone near the Daniel Devine Pavilion on Providence Road.
Richardson said he did not know how long the man had been unconscious at the scene.
In a released statement, MU spokesman Christian Basi said medical personnel transported the man to University Hospital, which Richardson confirmed.
"It was a medical emergency," Richardson said. "We don't believe foul play was involved."
The MU athletic department declined to comment.
At press time, MUPD is not releasing identifying features and will not contact the man's family as the incident has been classified as a medical emergency and is not believed to have a criminal aspect.
University Hospital declined to release the condition of the man.
