Stull arrested on suspicion of assault

MU freshman defensive lineman John Stull was arrested on Sept. 17 on suspicion of assault in connection to a previous incident that happened Sept. 6, Columbia Police Department Chief Randy Boehm said.
According to the police report, the victim reported receiving a call from a friend on Sept. 6 to meet him in the parking lot of Gauchos Steakhouse-Churrascaria in Columbia. When the victim arrived at the parking lot, he was instead met by Stull, who assaulted the victim by striking the victim with his fist, Boehm said.
The victim received injuries to his lip, upper jaw and teeth. Boehm said no weapons were involved in the assault. Boehm said the assault charge was a misdemeanor charge.
When police arrived at the scene at 4 a.m., Stull was no longer there. Columbia police began an investigation, which was finished Sept. 16. The next day, Stull was arrested at his home at 12:05 a.m.
In February 2006, Stull was arrested for disturbing the peace. He pled guilty in July 2006 and was sentenced to spend 45 days in the Boone County Jail. That sentence was suspended, and instead, Stull received two years of unsupervised probation that began on July 18, 2006.
According to the MU athletics department Web site, Stull was a redshirt freshman and worked as a part of the team's practice squad.
Athletic department spokesman Chad Moller could not be reached for comment.
