In an effort to promote smart and healthy sexuality, Sexual Health Advocate Peer Education is hosting events this week where students can learn about and take pride in safe sexual practices.
The organization will have peer educators at a booth Wednesday and Thursday in Brady Commons.
Students can stop by, pick up information about safe sexual practices and decorate a card with their "sexy little secret."
"It's a way for students to share with their peers their interests in safe, healthy and responsible sexuality," Student Health Center spokesman David Dale said.
Sexual Responsibility Week is typically observed in February, but SHAPE wanted to share safe practices with freshmen during their first semester at MU, Dale said.
SHAPE's mission is to educate students and encourage them to "talk, respect, protect and enjoy."
The Sexy Little Secret campaign is meant to promote this mission statement, according to an event posted on Facebook.com.
To participate, Dale said students should visit the tables in Brady Commons, where SHAPE offers markers and cards for students to use in making their postcard confessions.
He said the goal is to show the artistic side of safe sexuality and to highlight students' pride, whether they are sexually active or not.
Dale said that no matter the secret, student's confessions will remain anonymous.
He said the events organizers hope to display the postcards so that students may see their peers' secrets.
Dale the location of the display has not been determined.
"We hope to at least get them up on our Web site," Dale said.
He said students can visit the SHAPE Web site to see the postcards or visit the table in Brady Commons to find out where to see the live display.
The tables will also have information on the programs SHAPE offers.
"SHAPE is all about healthy choices," Dale said.
