Freshman Gilbert Moye, a reserve safety for the MU football team, was arrested on suspicion of assault on Sept. 26, according to MU Police Department Capt. Brian Weimer.

Weimer said the assault stemmed from an argument between Moye and his roommate. Moye punched the roommate in the face, Weimer said.

Police arrested Moye on suspicion of third-degree assault with physical injury. Moye and his roommate live in South residence hall.

"He was photographed, fingerprinted and released on state summons," Weimer said.

Weimer said a Nov. 1 court date has been set for Moye with regards to the assault.

Moye is the third player from the MU football team to be arrested in the past two weeks.

On Sept. 17, freshman defensive lineman John Stull was arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with an incident in the parking lot of Gauchos Steakhouse- Churrascaria.

On the same day, senior backup linebacker Steve Redmond was arrested on suspicion of throwing a nuisance party.

Athletics department spokesman Chad Moller could not be reached for comment regarding the effect of the assault charges on either Moye's or Stull's availability to continue play.
