A man was arrested for possession of child pornography.
A Columbia man was arrested for three counts of child pornography on Jan. 25, police said. Sean M. Quick, 26, of Columbia, was arrested for two counts of possession and one count of promoting child pornography at his home. The arrest follows a four-month period of investigation, stated a news release. On Nov. 30, the Boone County Internet Crimes Task Force seized his computer. Police said he was using a file-sharing program to distribute the pornography. “This kind of thing is happening every day,” Task Force Detective Tracy Perkins said. “It’s just a matter of catching them.” Perkins said the Task Force arrested seven people last year for possession of child pornography and nine people for distribution of it, although people can be arrested for both at the same time. On top of investigating crimes, the Task Force goes to organizations in mid-Missouri including school and parents’ meetings to educate people, especially parents, about file-sharing. “Some parents and adults don’t realize file-sharing can have the potential to be dangerous,” she said. Quick is being held at the Boone County Jail on $30,000 bond as of Monday night.
