Green Team collects recyclables on game day

Tiger Tailgate assistant coordinator Jordan Green tosses a bag full of aluminum cans into the back of a truck Saturday at the Reactor Field lot. After distributing bags early in the afternoon, Tiger Tailgate recycling volunteers made several rounds in parking lots to collect bags until 8 p.m.

After working all afternoon leading up to the football game against Oklahoma State, Tiger Tailgate volunteers returned to parking lots at 8 a.m. Sunday.

Sophomore David Teeghman tears off a large trash bag from a roll stored in the back of a Landscape Services golf cart. The larger bags were used in permanent beige recycling bins. Teeghman has written for The Maneater.

Sustain Mizzou Secretary Christine O'Brien hands a bag to MU graduate Travis Sumner and reviews instructions on what materials can be recycled. Plastic types No. 1 and No. 2 and aluminum and glass containers were all eligible to be recycled in Tiger Tailgate-approved bags.

Seniors Joel Fecke and Ramin Mehranfar drive a golf cart Saturday near the main entrance to Faurot Field on their way to auxiliary parking lots to collect bags of recyclables. The pick-up process went slowly because the golf carts were forced to maneuver around both pedestrians and other cars in the packed lots.
