MU Police said a man reported he was assaulted and robbed near the Quad early Sunday morning in the second on-campus robbery and assault within a month.
The man told police the robbery occured at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday, a news release from the MU Police Department stated.
The male victim, who is not an MU student, told police that two assailants stole his wallet after punching him and knocking him to the ground, the release stated. The victim then chased the two men north on Eighth Street toward downtown before losing sight of them.
Both suspects were described as black males in their late teens or early 20s, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a small to medium build, no facial hair and wearing baggy pants and hooded sweatshirts.
The encounter left the victim with minor injuries and refused medical attention.
This is the second robbery on MU campus this school year, and also the second one taking place near Francis Quadrangle, MUPD Capt. Brian Weimer said. An MU student was robbed there Sept. 17. Three suspects were arrested in connection with the robbery Sept. 20.
"We don't have any information to indicate that they are at all related," Weimer said of the two robberies.
A reward of up to $1,500 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
