An MU student was robbed this weekend outside her residence in East Campus.
At about 1 a.m. Saturday the Columbia Police Department was dispatched to an armed robbery on East Campus.
The victim, a 21-year-old female and student at MU, was returning to her home on Wilson Avenue when the suspect approached her and put a gun to her head, according to a CPD news release.
The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled the scene in an unknown direction, according to the release.
The victim was not injured, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
This is the third robbery so far this month in the area surrounding East Campus Columbia Police Sgt. Dan Beckman said the incidents don't constitute a rise in robberies in the area.
'I would say that the amount of robberies is about normal," Beckman said. "The media is reporting them more, so it just seems as though there are more robberies."
