MSA works to replace four departing committee heads
Students cited time commitment as a reason for leaving.

In the last two weeks, four out of six Missouri Students Association committee chairpersons have stepped down from their positions.
The first to leave was former Budget Committee Chairman Aaron Wynhausen, who simply did not have the time to fulfill the duties of chairperson this year, he said. Wynhausen said he found it important to work and earn money this year rather than spend eight hours a week working for MSA.
"MSA and I were just moving in separate directions," Wynhausen said.
The Operations Committee confirmed Budget Senator Matt Sheppard to be Wynhausen's replacement.
Multicultural Issues Committee Chairwoman Jennifer Claxton also found MSA to be too much a time commitment for this year, though it has been a great experience for her, she said. Claxton will graduate next semester and will be taking this time to focus on graduation and securing a job, she said.
Applications for the Multicultural Issues position are due Friday, Senate Speaker Jonathan Mays said.
Corey Gibson stepped down as head of the Operations Committee for the good of MSA, he said. Gibson will graduate in December and felt it would be better to have someone in the position for the entire year, he said. Gibson will be spending time studying for the GMAT and focusing on his studies, especially his capstone course.
Mays interviewed Operations Committee Senators Amanda Shelton and Josh Travis for the position and will announce the final decision on Monday, he said.
Shelton is serving as interim chairwoman.
Phyllis Williams stepped down as Academic Affairs Committee chairwoman but will remain involved in MSA. Williams, who announced her intention to run for MSA president, named Academic Affairs Committee Senator Craig Stevenson interim chairman. Stevenson is also the board chairman for the Associated Students of the University of Missouri.
The two remaining committee heads have both served in those capacities for more than a year. Mays confirmed that Erin Moran will be staying on as Student Affairs Committee chairwoman at least for this semester. Moran declined to comment. Brendan Webber, campus and community relations chairman, will graduate at the end of the year and said he will leave his post eventually, but not anytime in the near future.
