A Columbia man was arrested Wednesday after police said he banged on the windows and doors of multiple Columbia homes.

Terrance D. Strickland, 28, was arrested Wednesday after the Columbia Police Department received a call to the area of Fenimore Drive concerning a male suspect ringing doorbells, knocking on doors and banging on windows.

While police were inspecting the area, a female on the 1600 block of High Quest Circle called police after she heard a person ring her doorbell. After she did not answer the door, the suspect went to the back of her home and forced his way into the house.

The woman exited her home while talking with the police dispatcher after the suspect entered, according to a police news release.

Officers responded to the call and said they saw Strickland leaving the home. He attempted to run from officers but was apprehended in her backyard and taken into custody.

Strickland had a cell phone that was stolen during a downtown burglary the day earlier.

Strickland was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary, property damage and resisting arrest.
