A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper arrested a suspect in a local murder case during a traffic stop Sunday night, a Columbia Police Department news release stated.

Clyde Hyler III, 22, is a chief suspect in the murder and robbery of Antonio Flores-Ramirez, 29, the release stated.

The traffic stop was conducted on Highway 63, north of Interstate 70.

On Aug. 21, Flores-Ramirez and Javier Perdoza, 23, were shot during a drug set up at 2707 Quail Drive. Both men thought they were buying drugs from Antoine J. Harris, 31, and Hyler, police said. Ramirez-Flores was declared deceased at the scene of the crime.

Harris confessed his involvement to police after the shooting and is being held in the Boone County Jail.

Hyler had a warrant out for second-degree murder and first-degree robbery, accumulating a bond of $1 million, according to the release. Hyler is listed on the inmate roster for the Boone County Jail.

The case is still under investigation.
