Column:
MSA Senate speaker catches Maneater mistake
Published Nov. 14, 2008
On Thursday evening, we posted an editorial urging students to vote "no" on an MSA ballot issue that would require students to immediately begin paying a portion of any student fees approved for capital improvements rather than starting payment when construction starts.
But there won't be any such proposal on the ballot. Instead, the Missouri Students Association ballot will ask students if a three-fifths majority should be required to pass capital improvement fees.
The two proposals came up at the same MSA Budget Committee meeting. The issue regarding starting payment of capital improvement students fees immediately went on to be passed by a joint resolution on Oct. 7; the other, which requires a three-fifths majority of voting students to pass capital improvement fees, will be put to a student referendum next week.
MSA Senate Speaker Jonathan Mays caught the error and contacted us after reading the editorial online. Although it was only online for about 13 minutes, we sincerely apologize for any confusion it might have caused.
