Missouri bucks national trend in some races

Columbia resident Carla Tigue picks up leftover election materials as souvenirs Thursday from the Barack Obama campaign office on Ninth Street. The country as a whole voted overwhelmingly for Obama, but Missouri failed to live up to its reputation as a bellwether, voting for John McCain by a slight margin and keeping Republican majorities intact in the state legislature.
