Student eludes arrest
March 4, 2008
Police arrested an MU student for attempting to elude police by car from Ninth Street to Business Loop 70 at approximately 2:30 a.m. on March 2, police said.
MU Police Department Capt. Scott Richardson said police attempted to stop junior Cody C. Mundell at Ninth Street near the RC-3 parking lot. He refused to stop and instead fled through a red light at the intersection of Broadway and Highway 63 to Riback Supply Co., which is located at 2412 E. Business Loop 70.
MUPD officers, with assistance from the Columbia Police Department, arrested him on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, operating a motor vehicle in a careless manner and resisting arrest by fleeing.
During the incident, Mundell reached speeds of 70 to 90 miles per hour, Richardson said.
