The fraudulent e-mail directs students to a number that asks them to enter their PIN number, card number and expiration date.

The Division of IT Information Security & Account Management sent MU students and employees an e-mail about a fraudulent e-mail that has been sent to some MU accounts claiming to be from Boone County National Bank. The fraudulent e-mail gives an 800 number and asks the recipient to call immediately regarding recent activity on their account. The 800 number leads the caller to a voicemail where they are asked to enter their PIN number, card number and expiration date.
The IT e-mail encouraged recipients to always confirm banking emails with their bank. Students who have called the number are encouraged to contact their banks immediately.
