Junior second baseman Andee Allen hit her fourth career home run helping the MU softball team to an 8-3 win Saturday over the Baylor Bears. The win moved the Tigers’ record at University Field this season to 22-1.
After senior pitcher Jen Bruck doubled in the bottom of the second inning,
Allen drove a shot off Baylor junior Shaina Brock over the fence in left center field.
It was the second of four hits that Brock allowed in two innings.
With no outs in the bottom of the third inning, Brock lost control and got pulled from the game.
Three Bears pitchers combined for five walks, and MU (43-13, 10-5 Big 12) scored four runs on just two hits.
After allowing the first run of the game, Bruck settled down and earned her 16th win of the season in what could have been her final career appearance at home.
She went the full seven innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on eight hits. She also struck out four.
Missouri’s game Sunday against the Bears was rained out after just one inning of play.
Before the game, Bruck and fellow senior Amanda Renth were honored for their contributions to MU during their playing careers.
The planned doubleheader at home on Wednesday against UM-Kansas City has also been cancelled with no plans to make it up.
Missouri will head to Nebraska, they are of the 15-1 conference record, for two games next Saturday and Sunday.
After that is the Big 12 conference tournament on May 9 in Oklahoma City.
