The Missouri General Assembly approved a bill that aims to lower the cost of textbooks by requiring vendors to disclose the books' prices to professors.
The Textbook Transparency Act was passed in the House in April, then amended and approved in the Senate earlier this week.
The amendment requires that the textbook vender discloses the price at which the company would make the product available to the University Bookstore, rather than the suggested retail price. The House voted to approve the Senate amendment today.
The bill would also require that bundled supplemental products be made available unbundled.
The Textbook Transparency Act will be sent to the governor for final approval.
