The Missouri House approved a bill that would provide for a voting student member on the UM system Board of Curators if the state loses a congressional district in 2010.
The bill resolves a potential conflict between the Missouri Constitution, which requires nine members on the board, and the Missouri Revised Statutes, which requires that no more than one member come from each congressional district.
The Missouri Senate approved the bill in April. It passed without amendments in the House, so it is headed to the governor's desk for approval.
The Board of Curators voted earlier this week to oppose the bill. The current board hadn't formally taken a position on the bill, but curators had spoken against it.
