Johnson to lead ISC

Missouri Students Association Vice President Chelsea Johnson has been elected chairwoman of the Intercampus Student Council.
“As of right now, I’m going through all the materials given to me by the previous ISC chair to see what they’ve done in the past and what we can do now and in the future,” Johnson said.
The council, composed of the student government association presidents and vice presidents from each of the four UM system campuses, elects a chairperson and vice chairperson each term to coordinate ISC business. Former MSA President Rachel Anderson served as ISC chairwoman last year.
Missouri University of Science and Technology representative Dianna Meyers was elected vice chairwoman.
ISC represents UM system students to the system’s administrative bodies, including the UM system Board of Curators, the system president and the chancellors of each individual campus, according to the ISC Web site.
At ISC meetings, members share campus news and talk about specific issues that have arisen at their schools.
ISC also works closely with the Associated Students of the University of Missouri, an organization that provides an internship program for students and lobbies for student interests at the legislative level.
Johnson said the members of ISC also work with UM system administrators.
In the upcoming year, ISC plans to continue working toward increasing enrollment in the MU Alert system, an issue ISC has discussed at the past two meetings and with UM system president Gary Forsee.
Meyers said the organization will also be sure to keep close ties and relations with ASUM, specifically legislative director Craig Stevenson, who takes over as board chairman July 1.
