Small Time Skates and a big time skater

A wall of skateboard decks and skating magazines decorates the interior of Small Time Skates Tuesday. The shop, located at 1206 Business Loop 70 W., opened in August 2006.

Skating shoes made by etnies, DC and Vans are displayed under a Small Time Skates skateboard deck inside the shop on Tuesday. The store sponsors several budding local skaters, offering them discounts and free products.

Small Time Skates manager and co-owner Shane Stander opens the shop Tuesday. Stander, who has been skating for more than 20 years, is hosting a skateboarding camp for children this summer.

Twelve-year-old Zach Williams performs an ollie over steps on Sunday at the Columbia Skate Park. The park, located near Small Time Skates, is a popular venue for boarders and bladers.

Hickman High School student Alex Hoffman scans the obstacles at Columbia Skate Park on Sunday as other skaters take a breather. Small Time Skates is coordinating several summer events at the park including the 1031 Skates Turn Up The Hell summer tour on June 19.
