Woman escapes robbery

A Columbia woman escaped an attempted armed robbery late Friday night in south Columbia, but the suspect remains at large.
According to a Columbia Police Department news release, at 11:50 p.m. Friday, the victim was driving east on Grindstone Parkway and, while stopped at the intersection of Grindstone and Rock Quarry, a white male wearing a black ski mask approached the vehicle on foot from the north.
The victim said the suspect came to her open driver-side window, produced a handgun and demanded money.
The victim said she drove away without giving the suspect any money or property, and filled a report ten minutes later.
The release stated police searched the area, but were unable to find the suspect.
The release stated the suspect is between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet in height with a medium build.
