Phyllis Williams and Jordan Paul announced Thursday their intent to run in the Missouri Students Association presidential election.

With the passing of the new Board of Elections Commissioners Handbook, slates can now officially announce their candidacy for the presidential election. Williams and Paul are the first and so far the only slate to announce their candidacy.

Williams has served as MSA Academic Affairs Committee chairwoman since last October, but has stepped down to focus on her campaign. MSA Senator Craig Stevenson will serve as interim chairman. Paul, who has served as Department of Student Services director since last August, will stay in his position.

Williams is a senior from Chicago majoring in history and sociology. Paul is a senior from Neosho majoring in history and political science.

Although the two declined to name specific policy proposals or goals until their platform is more developed, they emphasized their intention to run a clean and concise campaign.
