Highway Patrol investigation turns up methamphetamine lab and marijuana operation

An early morning investigation found a fully functional clandestine methamphetamine laboratory, methamphetamine, marijuana grow operation, processed marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group applied for a search warrant on a camper trailer and a shed on Helmig Road near Mount Sterling. The Highway Patrol served the search warrant early on Friday, according to a news release.
According to the release, two suspects were arrested at the scene, Dustin Hayes, 24, of Mount Sterling, and Lacey Higginbotham, 20, of Linn. The Gasconade County prosecutor will seek formal drug-related charges.
