A former MU basketball player pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of peace disturbance Friday afternoon in Boone County Circuit Court.

The charge stemmed from a Jan. 27 fight outside the now-defunct Athena Night Club in downtown Columbia.

Associate Circuit Judge Deborah Daniels sentenced Jason Horton, former MU basketball guard, to one year of unsupervised probation and 10 hours of community service.

Stefhon Hannah, another former basketball player charged in the case, pleaded guilty to the same charge of misdemeanor peace disturbance on April 15 and was sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation and 20 hours of community service.

The arrests came after a fight outside the since closed Athena Night Club on the corner of Hitt and Locust streets. Horton and Hannah were accused of fighting with employees from Nikai Mediterranean Grill, a restaurant located in the same building as the club.

Horton and Hannah were among five players suspended after the fight by coach Mike Anderson for violating team rules.

The athletic department declined to comment the Horton situation.

"He's no longer a student here," athletic department spokesman David Reiter said. "We don't have any details on the case."

Christopher Slusher, Horton's attorney, did not return phone calls regarding the case.
