A man robbed the Taco Bell at 1100 Smiley Lane through the drive-through window around early Sunday morning.
The suspect approached the drive-through window around 2 a.m. and pointed a handgun at the employee who was on duty, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.
"The suspect went through the drive-through, had ordered food and was in the process of picking his food up when the drive-through employee noticed the man had brandished a firearm and immediately moved away from the window and out of view," CPD Sgt. Ken Hammond said.
The man said something unintelligible statement while pointing the gun before the employee reacted.
"The employee suspected that he was intoxicated," Hammond said.
The employee left the drive-through window, and after the employee was out of view, the man drove away, a CPD news release stated.
The suspect is described as a man in his late 40s wearing a brown jacket and a gray, hooded sweatshirt underneath.
He was last seen leaving the Taco Bell in a white four-door vehicle going southbound on Rangeline Street toward Interstate 70.
No one was injured and no property was stolen during the incident, the release stated.
