A man found dead at Rock Bridge Memorial State Park was identified Tuesday as 58-year-old Charles Keener of Columbia.
A hiker found Keener along the Grassland Trail late Monday morning.
"911 was called and the state park rangers and the Boone County Sheriff's Department both responded," said Sue Holst, a spokeswoman for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
An autopsy report revealed Keener died of natural causes, according to the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office.
"He was probably walking along when his heart failed and he collapsed," said Dori Burke, the chief investigator at the medical examiner's office.
Keener was taken to the medical examiner's office after a medical team responded to the scene, Holst sad.
The Department of Natural Resources took over the case after Keener was taken to the medical examiner's office, Boone County Sheriff's Department Maj. Tom Reddin said.
